Services

I am a trained fitness professional, educator, researcher, & physician who provides holistic, individualized coaching, skill-building, and support services specifically tailored to help physicians, and others in high-stress, demanding professions (e.g., other health care workers, lawyers, clergy, social service providers, nonprofit & business leaders),  improve their health, wellbeing, and performance. In addition, I provide group knowledge and skill-building sessions designed to empower, and improve the wellbeing of service providers, community leaders, and other key community members. I also serve as a paid consultant for organizations and businesses who are looking to recruit and retain physicians, improve employee wellness and performance, or more constructively engage with their clients and communities.

  • Individual Medical & Wellness Services

I built this business to provide the kind of coaching, skill-building, support, and targeted medical care I have seen my friends, family, and colleagues need at critical points in their lives as physicians, and as professionals in other high-stress, demanding careers. Over the years, I have found that my additional training as a strength and conditioning coach, fitness nutrition specialist, social psychologist, and public health professional provides me with a unique set of skills that make me particularly effective at: coaching, building skills, supporting, and providing targeted medical care to physicians and others in high-stress, demanding careers.  A key part of my effectiveness is my ability to leverage a wide variety of skills, knowledge sets, and relationships that are not developed as part of traditional medical training and practice. This allows me to both engage with other physicians on their level, while also teaching them knowledge, skills, and approaches they are not familiar with, but that fit their specific needs. I also have been able to integrate features, opportunities, and resources into my business that are purposely designed with physician clients in mind. The ultimate goal is to help my clients stay healthy, improve their performance, and rapidly address medical issues that arise for themselves or their loved ones, to support their wellbeing and ensure they can continue to have a positive impact on our communities.

    • Coaching: Fundamentally, all of my clients come to work with me because they are looking to make a change, and want to work with someone who can really partner with them to make that happen. For my clients, the effectiveness of our partnership comes from my ability to connect with and understand their challenges and experiences, while also being able to leverage all of my other training and experience to provide a unique perspective. A perspective that allows me to enhance their knowledge and insight, while guiding them through navigating the challenges and barriers they are facing.

    • Skill-Building: The core focus of all of my work is helping individuals develop the skills they need to be self-sufficient in taking care of their health and wellbeing. For example, for my clients, this may mean helping them feel comfortable building their own workouts in the gym, teaching them how to meal prep healthful foods, or helping them develop methods for optimizing cognitive performance. The goal is to ensure my clients leave their time working with me feeling empowered to continue to make impactful and sustainable changes in their lives.

    • Support: Time, stress, and cognitive demands make it challenging for physicians, and professionals in other demanding careers, to make changes and address important health and wellness issues on their own. The flexibility of my business allows me to work with my clients to find ways to best support them as they are working to make lifestyle changes, or are working through health issues for themselves or loved ones. This includes: connecting clients with businesses, personal trainers, and other providers who can uniquely meet their needs, helping clients feel comfortable in the gym, connecting with nature, or integrating new foods into their diet, assisting in the implementation and supervision of care of loved ones, and finding other creative ways to help reduce stress and give them the space they need to get on a better a track. Ultimately, anyone who is struggling, or wants to make a change, while also dealing with a high-stress, demanding job, wants someone they can count on to deliver help, without having to micromanage them. I work hard to be that person for my clients.

    • Targeted Medical Care: Many physician and other professionals are resistant to engage with medical care because they are inherently resistant to personally utilizing medications. However, with my training and education in lifestyle medicine, nutrition, exercise, psychology, spirituality, and other alternative health and healing practices, my clients and former patients all know I most care about getting the job done. I certainly prescribe medications when they are the right form of medical care to meet my clients needs. However, issues I commonly address such as: anxiety, depression, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, substance use, and burn out, can all be addressed in multiple different ways, depending on what most suites my clients needs and values. The benefit of working with me to address health issues really comes in my ability to help clients explore the options that are best suited to them, and then implementing care on a timeline based on evidence and response, rather than health care system constraints. Issues that may take close to a year to stabilize in a traditional clinical practice setting, are often in a much better place in just a few weeks or months because of how I am able to provide care to clients through this business.

Service Rates:  Every person and situation is unique, so I do not have cookie-cutter plans. Rather, I charge a low, base membership fee to formalize a client relationship and cover basic services, and then I work with my clients to develop a plan that meets their needs for a negotiated price. My typical rates when building plans are:

    • $200 Annual Membership Fee: Initial needs assessment, consultation, and exam. Triage phone calls. Medication refills. Prior authorizations. Replies to simple health or wellness information questions. Brief follow-up phone calls.

    • $150: Simple, acute illness or medical management follow-up video visits.

    • $250: Coaching check-in. <30 minute knowledge or skill-building session. Any acute illness, injury, or other medical visit requiring a house call. Per hour rate for non-face-to-face work (e.g., paperwork, research, document review).

    • $450: Any coaching session, knowledge or skill-building session, or other face-to-face meeting >30 minutes in duration, up to 90 minutes.

Package Discounts: Given the time and cost savings associated with working intensively with the same client, I am often able to create packages at a discount compared to the à la carte rates. For example, an 8-week lifestyle modification plan often costs as little as $145 per week, and an intensive year-long health improvement package may cost as little as $96 per week. My goal is to minimize cost as a barrier to my clients, while also being fair to myself and realistic about the costs associated with providing impactful services.

Upfront, Transparent Prices: All service fees are negotiated and collected prior to service being rendered, based on estimated time and effort needed to complete the work. No additional fees are charged if the work takes longer than anticipated. This ensures my clients know exactly how much they are paying for a particular service before having it completed. Additionally, all lab work paid for out-of-pocket and completed through my contracted lab services provider is guaranteed to be a set price, before it is drawn and completed.

Maximum Privacy: Over the last decade health care systems and insurance companies have increased the ease with which personal health information is shared between organizations. The goal has been to increase patient safety, facilitate coordination of patient care, and reduce system-level health care costs. However, an unintended consequence has been that it has become much easier for people outside the patient-physician dyad to access sensitive health information. This includes insurance companies. For many people this is uncomfortable, but for physicians, and others in high-stress, demanding professions, it can be a barrier to addressing mental or physical health issues. By not accepting insurance and being paid directly by my clients, I am able to maximize the privacy of my client’s protected health information. This business model allows my digital health record system to function autonomously, with none of my client records being automatically shared with insurance companies or inter-institutional health information exchanges. Additionally, given that I am the only person completing paperwork for my clients, I am able to ensure they are comfortable with any disclosures that are made. Operating in this way allows my clients to have maximum control over the disclosure of their health information and their personal privacy.

NOTE:  These services are not meant to be a replacement for having a primary care provider (PCP). However, my services provide clients with a way to obtain care and support that is more holistic, rapid, intensive, and performance-focused than the care most people are able to obtain from a PCP. All of my clients are encouraged to have a PCP to ensure they have access to the care they need that is outside the scope of what I offer through this business.

  • Group Knowledge & Skill-Building Sessions

I work with health care organizations, community groups, nonprofits, and businesses to provide group knowledge and skill-building sessions designed to empower and improve the wellbeing of service providers, community leaders, and other key community members. These sessions are either built from scratch or modified from my existing catalogue to meet the specific needs of the target audience.

  • Expert Consultation for Organizations & Business

I offer my knowledge, skills, and insight as a paid consultant to help organizations and business more effectively: recruit and retain physicians, build trust and relationships with clients, engage constructively with minoritized, marginalized, and stigmatized communities, create impactful adult education products, and support enhanced employee wellness and performance. I am also available to help organizations supporting under-resourced, minoritized, marginalized, or stigmatized communities develop their strategic planning, program development, and program evaluation technical capacities.
